CamelBak is known for all kinds of athletic gear, including safety gear and water bottles. More than anything else, they are know as the kings of "hands-free hydration". Their offerings in the camel pack arena have approached legendary proportions over the last couple of decades. Today, they supply their systems to everyone from amateur enthusiasts, and die-hard athletes, to the US military.
Essentially, the system is a super strong water bladder, held inside backpack compartment, with a delivery tube, held at mouth height with a shoulder strap clip. This tube feeds the beverage of choice directly to the mouth of the user. Water or other hydration of choice is then released on demand, by a proprietary "bite valve", at the delivery end of the tube.
These systems are leak free. The packs are made with positive airflow technology, created by use of raised foam pads covered in light weigh mesh, allowing air to flow between the back rest and the user's back. Padded shoulder pads are a standard on many models, and each of the unique models offer varying storage capacities.
There are almost as many styles, models, and color combinations out there as there are things to do with them. Basically, if you have something to do that requires you to have your hands free, and stay hydrated, a CamelBak pack is a must have piece of equipment.
Sure there are some other products that have come to market since the initial development of these packs by CamelBak, which began in 1988, but it is the quality of the product that sets CamelBak in a class of its own. The materials and construction techniques utilized by CamelBak, are simply outstanding. From the bladders and feeder tubes, to the bite valve technology, CamelBak makes most, if not all other products, look less than optimal. If fact, we found videos on the web showing CamelBak bladders, filled with water, not spilling a drop as full-sized trucks drove over them. The company has an extraordinary testing lab, and has demonstrated that they "all-in" when it comes to the hands-free hydration game.
Let's take just a second to talk about style. These packs look good! They offer some of the hottest color combos you're likely to have ever seen in backpacks. Alternatively, they offer simple black, and even camouflage, for times when you just want to blend in to your surroundings. BTW - A terrific choice for that paintball sniper.
