An Amazing Brand You Can Certainly Trust

The Brite-Strike brand was created by two police officers whose goal was to make a quality LED flashlight that would serve as an effective source of portable light for both police officers and ordinary citizens. The blue dot series of Bright-Strike flashlights is a police officer's friend.

These flashlights put out a brilliant white beam that has the same effect as a flood light. The body of the Brite-Strike flashlight is made of anodized aluminum with a distinctive black finish. It is designed to comfortably fit into the hand by virtue of its tri-sided nature. Another attractive feature of this Brite-Strike flashlight is the large clearance between the pocket clip and the body of the flashlight. This feature helps line officers quickly and easily draw the flashlight from a BDU pocket, duty belt or from a six-pocket police pant. Finally, the Brite-Strike flashlight has a Tactical Touch Switch which enables the police officer to turn the light on and activate all of its modes with one finger or thumb on one hand.

The Brite-Strike brand is also a symbol of quality for two types of special gloves used by police officers and emergency personnel. Brite-Strike Gloves for motorcycle police, called police cycle gloves, have a non-slip leather palm and four light strips over the fingers that can operate for over 35 hours. Two of the strips are blue and two are red, and they can be seen for up to 1/4 mile away. The light strips can be off or they can be set to provide either a fast or slow strobe light flash. Light strips that have reached the end of their operating lifetime can be replaced with new ones.

Brite-Strike Gloves that can help keep traffic police, highway construction crews and highway emergency workers safe at night are also available. Called traffic safety gloves, these are reflecting gloves that have colored, blinking LED lights attached with velcro to the palms and to the back of the hand. There is a standard traffic stop sign sewn into the palm, and it is illuminated with flashing red LED lights that motorists can easily see when the officer directing traffic holds up his hand. The lights are visible for up to 1/2 mile away and last for around 40 hours. Replacement lights are available for these as well. These gloves may help address the growing problem of police officers being struck and killed by passing cars as they direct traffic on dark roadways.

At Bright Ideas, with our main goal always being to help more and more people be safely seen at night. We do this by constantly expanding our product line with high quality products that you can rely on for visibility and durability at an affordable price.

Cornhole Bags - Real Corn or All-Weather Resin?

Playing Cornhole has changed a lot in the last 20 years. What started out as a college game in the Midwest in the 1990's, has morphed into a nationwide outdoor game phenomenon, enjoyed by all ages and walks of life. The game of Cornhole has gained more notoriety and respect progressing from an occasional outdoor game to a legitimate sport, complete with its own governing body: The American Cornhole Association. For many people, it is critically important to have consistency and standards in place, specifically with the composition of Cornhole bags.

Like the name implies, Cornhole bags were originally filled with corn. However, corn filled bags have a few inherent drawbacks, which can affect the performance and durability of your bags. Corn is an organic substance, and like any organic substance, will change when in contact with water. When your Cornhole bags get wet from dew, rain or beer individual kernels within the bag will swell up absorbing the liquid. Now your Cornhole bag is swollen and heavy. With increased size and weight comes added pressure on the bags bindings (stitching), and affects the accuracy when tossed. Like anything else that is no longer living, the introduction of water speeds up the decaying process, which isn't good for your kernels or bags. As the liquid from the kernels is evaporated, the kernels shrink and the process of expanding and contracting repeats with each liquid encounter-not good.

One of the most common complaints of corn filled bags is that they are targeted by animals. Mice, chipmunks and squirrels will be quite interested in corn filled bags (even more so if they've gotten wet) and that's not good. And where there are small rodents, the predators are soon to follow- snakes, yikes!

The good news is that plastic resin filled all-weather Cornhole bags are available and becoming a popular alternative to corn. Resin bags weight exactly the same as corn filled bags; will not absorb water and decay. Plastic resin is not at all interesting to rodents so you won't need to be on the lookout for Black Rat Snakes in your grass lurking for tasty rodents. The all-weather resin filled Cornhole bags are becoming more popular at the beach and around pools. If you are looking for the same quality of play but less mess you will find the all-weather resin filled corn hole bags a great alternative to corn filled corn hole bags.

Antiques Explained

With technology advancing at such a great pace, we are always on the look out for new technological devices that would make our life more convenient. The importance of gadgets seems to grow as technology advances; and because of this, many of us tend to forget the value of old possessions. Although in general the younger generation may not have that great interest in antiques, there are people around the world who see collecting antiques as not only a hobby but a very important part of their lives.

The term antique originated from the Latin word "antiquus" which means ancient or old. Different people classify items as antiques differently. Some people consider items that are at least a hundred years old to be antiques. On the other hand, some people consider only items that are at least three hundred years old to be one. No matter how old an object is, age certainly plays the key role in defining antiques. Apart from age, an item must be in its original condition and unaltered to be considered antique. In classifying a car, the criteria can be slightly different as compared to other objects. Cars that are roughly seventy-five years old can be considered antiques while some do not have to be that old to be classified as classics such as luxury vehicles.

An antique can be anything, from a bracelet to furniture as long as it is a collectable item. Antique items such as antique furniture can cost more than modern furniture due to their rarity as they were not mass produced. The value of such furniture can also be determined by their age. The older it is, the more it would cost as it would guarantee more that it is antique. Another factor that makes antiques such priced possessions is the fact that most of them used to be hand crafted that gave these items great class and detail. Some people who value art greatly would be very keen on collecting masterpieces where craftsmen spent hours and hours creating them.

The act of collecting antique items can be called antiquing. Identifying, bargaining, negotiating and buying are the processes of antiquing. Antiquing enthusiasts go out of their way to search for antiques that they can collect or use. They can range from tables, sculptures, paintings, jewellery and furniture up to many other forms of collectables. The most collected antique item by people is furniture as they can use it for practical uses. People can buy these collectables from almost anywhere. There are many shops around the world that sell antiques. One can also find sourcing them out on the internet worthwhile. Different people can have diverse interest in the type of items they want to collect like some people only collect antiques from a certain period of time. Antiquing can be a very expensive hobby, but those who are very passionate about it would not consider money to be an issue.

The Importance of Sports Trophies

Trophies are rewards, put simply. Any athlete enjoys receiving a trophy for his or her hard work all season. It has nothing to do with how much the trophy is worth; it has to do with the symbol of success. In other words, a trophy is recognition and appreciation, which translates to future positive behaviors. Achieving in sports is no exception.

Whatever your reasons for wanting to reward your sports athlete, a simple standard trophy or a large silver plated trophy, it makes no difference; it still signifies the same thing. The athlete that wins the trophy cherishes the pride felt inside and the legacy that goes along with the award. The trophy symbolizes the victory that the players have created.

Besides winning the big money, several golf tourneys honor their winners with golf trophies, as well. Some of these trophies are large cups, while others embody the golfer's swing. Golf trophies are great symbols of victory.

Some golfing tourneys will also recognize those golfers that have accomplished the most difficult shot of the game; the hole in one. These golf trophies are awarded to those that have made this shot whether or not they have actually placed in the tournament. These trophies are made of all different types of materials, while gold, silver, and pewter are the most widely used.

The sport of football is one of the most prestigious sports there is. The most famous of all Football Trophies is the Heisman. This trophy will be presented to the best player in college football. There have been several winners of this trophy throughout the past few years that have gone on to play professional football. The Heisman is made from diecast bronze.

Not all football trophies are as celebrated as the Heisman; however, all players of football deserve some type of recognition, as this is one of the most demanding sports there are. In high school, players receive plaques and football trophies. The trophy is the symbol of all of the hard work of a completed season in this all-demanding sport, football.

Another sport that offers trophies to its best players is rugby. This sport prides itself on being able to give trophies to its most exceptional players at the end of the season. All the way from the littlest leagues up to the majors, all levels of this sport are recognized with trophies, and other awards. Some of the most well known celebrated rugby trophies are widely known around the world.

It is not just the professional leagues that are given trophies, however. All players, even in community leagues, receive some sort of special recognition for their time playing the sport, such as those that play in church rugby leagues. There are several different positions in rugby, and each one has its own trophy for the best player at that position for the season. Rugby trophies are even given for sportsmen like conduct and who can have the most fun playing. Trophies are the rewards for a well-played season.

Football Trophies are an award given to football players for the recognition of a well-played season.

The Evolution of Leadership in Professional Sport

What is Leadership? It is spoken about by a lot of people today. But before we delve into what it means today, lets us trace the origins of its current thinking and how it evolved in professional sport. Having done that, we also need to see where leadership is headed in professional sport.

In the good old days leadership was spelt as "COACH". There were no leadership teams or player groups or senior representative groups or unity councils. The coach was the boss, leader and decider. The head coach took all the decisions and took responsibility for them. All leadership in professional sporting began and ended there. The coach was the revered "guru" who could not be questioned.

Then leadership evolved into the concept of 'Captaincy' and nominating a 'Captain'. Team leadership then began to be shared between Captain and Coach - a kind of 'joint responsibility'. It was not too long before the demands on leadership started increasing to include media management, public experiences and 'sponsor servicing'. The aura of the team translated into the aura and persona of the captain. Now with the position of the captain attaining a halo, we began to see the emergence of Vice Captains and even Co-captains as the limelight was required to be shared to give some importance to other good players through shared leadership. The context of 'grooming the next leader' also developed.

Over time, the philosophy of leadership in professional sporting teams evolved into the present popular model of "Leadership Teams". You had the Captain, Vice Captain, Coach and Manager. The Manager handled the burden of administrative work. The leadership team played an important role in professional sport as it provided the players more opportunities to be engaged with preparation, performance, and to have some first hand inputs into standards, values and practices of the team.

Today, we face an altogether new leadership challenge in professional sport - Coaching by Collaboration. It is a time when everyone associated with the team - players, coaches, staff and management - has to take full responsibility for every aspect in their domain. So what do we call this kind of leadership - leading without leading?

It is an era where each player has to learn to lead from the front. They have to train, prepare and compete to their full potential by accepting full responsibility and accountability for their own standards, behavior and performance, both on and off the field. In the past players could be professional as far as their sporting event was concerned. But elsewhere, they had to depend on others to set and enforce professionalism in associated areas. A player who had some weakness could rely on another to cover up for him; but no longer. It is now an era of individualized peak performance. There can be no weak links in any professional sporting team. It is time for everyone involved in the team to ensure that everything they do: on-field training, off-field training (e.g. gym), social situations, recovery, nutrition, time management, values, sponsor commitments, public appearances and media management is as professional as their actual playing. Thus, with each player working at own peak professional performance, the whole team performs to its peak performance potential.

Embrace the collective collaborative coaching - "leading without leading model". It is innovative and successful. Take the lead and change the future of professional sports.

Hard Work, Tenacity, and Hope Win Out Against All Odds

We all love hearing about an inspiring story where hard work, tenacity, and hope win out against all odds. So many young athletes are encouraged to excellence when they see others succeed after difficult struggles. It's the stuff of great books, movies, and television. However, fame doesn't happen for every athlete that wants it, and talent and skill won't insure that it happens. Many talented athletes never get college scholarships or an opportunity to play professional sports. And, many world class athletes fail to qualify for national championships or the Olympics. It takes much, much more than talent or luck.

As soon as a child shows signs of any special interest or athletic skill it's the time to begin the journey to a college athletic scholarship. Too soon you may think, but the experts in the field don't think so. No longer do colleges send scouts traveling all over the country all year round looking for talent. It's too expensive and not necessary any longer. The stories of a scout finding a superstar athlete playing on some dirty sand lot are a thing of the past. Scouts used to travel all over the world to find the next great star, but not anymore.

With the advent of the personal computer, young prospects are a click away from showing the world their skills. Anybody can take film, upload it and post it for every coach, trainer and recruiter in America to see, instantly. What this means is that to receive offers for scholarships becomes the athletes responsibility. If you want to be recruited, you must promote yourself; or have a person take on the task.

Often this will be the parents of the athlete. And, if they are wise, they will enlist a professional organization who will plot out a course of action. A step by step plan that has a proven success rate will be your best choice. A company that has a well established reputation and long standing friendships with college recruiters will up your chances of receiving offers. A good representative will present your package to hundreds of colleges to insure you receive dozens of offers.

Since every year there are 15.2 million athletes in high school and there are only 2200 colleges with athletic programs; the chance of being discovered without promoting yourself is zilch. And, parents don't have the knowledge of the ins and outs of college recruiting rules and regulations. The creation of game footage and highlights of your skills are critical in promoting you. Are your parents media specialists? Do you know the deadlines you must meet to be eligible for recruitment? Do you know which sports recruit the most athletes?

Don't miss your window of opportunity because you learned too late that the time to begin this process is yesterday.

Be pro-active about your future and set yourself up for success. Get professional advice and guidance to insure numerous offers and options for your college education and athletic scholarship.

How Drysuits Work

How Drysuits Work

Drysuits are commonly worn for a variety of sports and occupations. This article looks at how drysuits work and how they are used in sports and leisure activities.

What is a drysuit?

A drysuit is a fullbody garment that is designed to keep the wearer dry when immersed in water. Clothing of some sort is normally worn underneath a drysuit and this will also remain dry throughout the activity.

What makes up a drysuit

Most drysuits are made up of several key parts:-

Fabric body of suit (Arms legs etc)

A sealable way of entering the suit (Zip)

A method of sealing the extremities (Neck, wrists and ankles)

We will look at each of these in turn.

MATERIALS AND BODY CONSTRUCTION

The body of a drysuit is, in the main, made from one of three different material types. Drysuits used for surface sports such as sailing and kayaking tend to be made from waterproof breathable fabrics and are very flexible. The panels are sewn together then the seams are normally sealed with seam sealing tape. This tape is applied by a seam sealing machine that heats up the tape and applies it to the seam through a series of rollers. This results in a strong and flexible seam that is watertight.

Drysuits used for diving are normally either made from crushed neoprene or a 3 layer material (sometimes referred to as membrane material). Crushed neoprene is similar to the material that wetsuits are made from expect that it has been compressed or partially flattened. Different manufacturers have different ways of doing this. 'Membrane' material is normally a tough material like Nylon on the inside and outside with butyl rubber in the middle.

There are some surface drysuits that are made from membrane type fabrics. These are popular with emergency services as the material is more robust than a breathable garment. The down side of these garments is that they can be less comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

ZIPS

Because the wearer needs a way to get into this completely sealed suit it is necessary to put an entry zip in the product. This cannot be just any old zip, but must be a special type of zip called a "dry zip". There are 2 main types of dry zip, commonly referred to as metal or plastic. Dry zips have teeth that fit very closely together to keep the water out.

Generally speaking metal zips are able to stand up to higher water pressures before leaking and are favoured on diving drysuits where the extra water pressure at depth poses a greater challenge to staying dry. Some surface sport drysuits also use metal dry zips.

Plastic drysuits tend to be more flexible and have a lower cost than metal zips and perform very well indeed on suits for sports such as kayaking and sailing. They are still uncommon on diving drysuits as most diving suit manufacturers prefer to rely on the extra resistance to water pressure given by metal dry zips.

The zips can be located either across the shoulders at the back of the suit, or diagonally from one shoulder down to the opposite hip. These two styles are commonly referred to as 'rear entry' or 'front entry' respectively.

RELIEF ZIPS

Some drysuits feature an extra 'relief zip' to enable a male to 'take a leak'. Women aren't quite so lucky and most drysuits don't have a different zip setup to allow a female to do the same. A device, which resembles a medical bottle, is available that allows a woman to use the same relief zip as a man.

UNDERSUITS

Breathable drysuits and membrane drysuits do not have significant insulating properties in their own right and rely on a layering system worn under the drysuit to keep the wearer warm, not just dry. These can vary from lightweight fleece all in one garments to multi layer suits with layers of fleece, thinsulate or other insulating material. Divers tend to wear thicker undersuits than surface sports users.

Neoprene drysuits have more insulation built into the suit by virtue of the thickness of the neoprene. Some users find they need only wear base layer garments under a neoprene suit whilst others may still wear an additional undersuit.

CUFFS

Most drysuit cuffs are made from latex rubber and form a tight gasket around the wearer's cuff that is sufficiently tight to prevent water getting between the seal and the skin.

Some seals are made from neoprene rubber but this is relatively uncommon and usually requires a larger amount of material to be in touch with the skin in order to make the seal effective.

NECK

Most drysuit neck seals are made from latex rubber and squeeze quite tightly around the wearer's neck in order to make an effective watertight seal. Some drysuits use neoprene neck seals which tend to be larger and, just like cuff seals, require a larger amount of material to be in touch with the skin in order to make the seal effective.

ANKLES AND FEET

At the foot end there are 3 different options for drysuits; ankle seals, socks or fitted boots.

Ankle seals are larger version of the wrist seals and grip tightly around the lower ankle area. They can be prone to leaking as the tendons on the back of the ankle can make it difficult for the seal to fit snugly all the way around some peoples ankles. Also, the added pressure to the ankle restricts blood flow to the foot which can make a persons' feet very cold indeed. Many people see the only obvious application for ankle seals is in sports where a bare foot is necessary; waterskiing would be an example of such a sport.

Socks are generally of 2 different types; latex socks or fabric socks. Latex socks are made from the same materials as the latex neck seals. They are normally sewn onto the leg of the drysuit then seam sealed in the same fashion as the rest of the seams. This type of sock is reasonably tough. Small holes can be repaired with a puncture repair kit and the material is tough enough to be walked upon if wearing shoes over the top. Over a long time period latex rubber can perish and it should be kept out of strong ultra violet light and sources of ozone as this hastens the perishing process. Other materials, such as some insect repellents can also cause perishing to the rubber. If looked after, latex socks perform well on drysuits and will last for many years. It is normal to wear regular, woollen type, socks inside a latex socks for warmth and comfort as your feet can sweat badly if used without.

Fabric socks are normally made from the same, or similar, material to the main body of a breathable drysuit. They are breathable which may provide a benefit when compared to latex socks, however, wetsuit boots are normally worn over the top of these socks and neoprene doesn't breathe at all so the breathable benefit of these socks is lost in most situations. Certain breathable socks can be prone to leaking at the seams as the process of walking on them, and hauling wetsuit boots on top of them, can cause quite high forces in certain situations. Small holes can be patched and glued whilst it may be possible to repair leaky seams with an adhesive sealer or by replacing the leaking seam tape.

Fitted boots are normally only found on diving drysuits. These boots resemble short welly boots and are often quite roomy. It is normal to wear thick warm socks with these boots. Fitted boots are normally quite durable and require little maintenance.

CONCLUSION

In cold conditions it is hard to beat a drysuit for keeping warm in the water. Even thick wetsuits struggle to keep you anywhere near as warm and comfortable. Drysuits tend to be more expensive than wetsuits though and are beyond the reach of many beginners.

Things to Do With Family or Friends During Weekends

Some people see their weekends as a time to relax and catch up on some sleep. There are people, however, who are endlessly looking for fun things to do during their breaks on the weekend.

You may go for classic games or you may try and play games which you just thought about. Sports activities can be the most famous activities that people will do. These can be easier to conduct as almost everyone will be familiar with the rules. There will be no need to waste time in teaching some members how to play the game. You may play basketball. However, as height is needed in order to have some advantage over the other players, only a few people can be able to play this game. Soccer is also a game that you can play. This can be played by almost anyone. Little kids or older adults can run around and kick a ball.

A sack race is another activity which you can play with your friends or family. You should have at least two teams. Both of these teams will race towards the finish line. The first team that has all its members finish crossing the line will be declared the winner. You can make use of a potato sack. Synthetic sacks may be easier to come by and you may also use these. Sometimes, if you can't find sacks anywhere in your area, you can make use of old pillow cases. In order to add more excitement into the activity, you can use a timer.

If you are experiencing a cloudy and windy day, you can try to fly kites. You need to be in an open space. Start by creating your own kites. The fun can start with choosing the materials that you need to use. Assembling the parts to make up an acceptable kite can even add to the fun. This activity can be completed in half a day. Early in the afternoon, you can start creating your kites. When the sun is almost out and when the wind is at its strongest late in the afternoon, you can try to fly the kites that you created.

You may have several backyard kits available somewhere in your garage. You can take these out and make use of them during your free time. Corn hole games and related activities can be competitive but simple to do. Even young kids can participate and compete against older individuals.

If you have lots of time to prepare, you can conduct a scavenger hunt. You will need a lot of time in creating the activities and making your clues. This is a great activity to have as it tests the physical as well as mental attributes of your kids. You can stimulate them to move as well as think. Choose tasks that are quite simple to do. You wouldn't want to spend the whole day just doing this hunt as giving this much time can be too exhausting to the participants. Be sure that the activities can be possibly complete in just a couple of hours.

William G. Steinmetz enjoys writing for Targettossgames.com which sells washer toss game and weather resistant cornhole bags as well as a host of additional products.

Have Fun With Nodor

If you ever want to show off your dart tossing skills with some friends, half the battle is getting the right darts. They need to be balanced correctly so that your throw is as accurate as it should be. At Nodor darts, quality is ensured to make sure that you get the most reliable darts that will give you a bulls-eye every time that you throw one that should be. Nothing is more infuriating than having a perfect throw but imperfect darts that mess you up, stopping you from getting that perfect score.

Choose Your Dart Package

Nodor darts come in a special color coded package that helps customers choose the best darts for their particular throwing style. For example, if you wanted darts that are made from brass, you would want to go with the yellow-colored packing that show buyers that the darts contained inside are made of your selected brass material. The other colors that you can choose from are orange, red, blue, and silver. This doesn't determine the dart's color, but the type of Nodor dart, so keep this in mind before purchasing. The packaging is clear though, so you should be able to see the darts before you buy them. Each package of darts comes with three individual Nodor Darts that are tested for quality assurance. You can also choose just to buy dart barrels rather then the entire dart, which is a unique option offered by Nodor.

Nodor Dart Boards

You can't successfully throw darts without a good dart board, or at least you can't keep score without one. Nodor dart boards are technically enhanced to make sure that the dart boards can absorb the impact from the throw and hold the dart in the board, rather than allowing it to flimsily falling down to the floor. The dartboards are made from quality materials and are held together with quality. There are no staples or unsightly objects keeping these boards from falling apart, after all, that isn't something that a quality dartboard company should offer their customers.

Conclusion

All of the products here are fairly priced and are of the best quality that money can buy. Dart throwing is part skill and part dart quality, so keep this in mind before you simply just walk away and decide that you don't need fancy dart equipment. Without the proper equipment, you will not be able to hit that bulls-eye as many times as you would like and you will not look as skilled in front of your friends. Heck, you may even be able to pick up a new lady friend with your awesome skills. Do you really want to pass up that opportunity?

At Kandyvines.com, our goal is to offer you a fine selection of top quality name brand merchandise at competitive prices, coupled with the very best customer service possible. Please let us know if you are dissatisfied in any way. We will make every reasonable effort to make it right. That's our policy - plain and simple

6 Reasons Kids Quit Sports

Writing a post about how kids shouldn't specialize in a particular sport when they're too young may seem a bit disingenuous for me. After all, as a college coach, I directly benefit from our culture's obsession with organized youth sports. In my opinion, most kids in youth sports aren't playing because they have a deep and lasting love of their particular sport, but because their friends play and their parents make them go. Sport should be fun for even the most highly skilled young athletes.

Beyond fun, parents and coaches should encourage youth athletes to play all sorts of sports so that their bodies can rest. Young kids can play volleyball in the fall, soccer in the winter, and run track in the spring. They're still working out and being healthy, but not overtaxing the same muscle groups by playing the same sport year-round. You can read more about this by reading Dr. Geier's blog post, How Young Is Too Young?.

So what makes kids decide to quit playing?

They've lost interest. After a year of playing, maybe your eight-year-old realizes that soccer isn't as great as she thought it would be...that's probably okay.

They're not having fun. Even for my college athletes, I think fun is important. We play games, not works, sport should be fun.

They're tired of playing. Think about the youth sport carousel: practice a couple of times a week after school, get up early on Saturdays and Sundays to play in tournaments...it can be a grind. I always wonder how the parents balance it all, maybe it would be a similarly good question to wonder how the kids manage it.

There's too much emphasis on winning. While I believe in the value of teaching winning and losing with grace, if the coach or parent is just focused on winning (at all costs), I'm sure it can be taxing on the kid. I certainly don't think everyone should get a trophy at the end of the day, but we've got to teach the children that there are winners beyond what the scoreboard shows.

They want to participate in other activities. Hopefully we want to create well-rounded children who play basketball and lacrosse...but who are also artists and singers and members of the orchestra. Participation in sports shouldn't exclude our children from loving other things.

They feel too much pressure. It's probably the coach in me saying this, but pressure from the moment (needing to hit a free throw shot to win the game) is a great life lesson. Pressure from their mom and dad in the car on the way home as they dissect every moment of the game is probably not the best.

Of course, there may come a time for middle or high school aged kids to focus on a particular sport, but there's no need to rush it. Ultimately, we all want kids to love sports. We believe that sports are great for many reasons, let's make sure we don't steal the love of the game away from our kids.

A Tribute to Ayrton Senna

Last night, I finally saw the critically acclaimed documentary film Senna (2010). I expected it to be engaging as a documentary piece but it had such an emotional impact on me that I had to write about it. This is not just a documentary for fans of Formula One but a film for us all to watch and take note.

For those who know little about it, Senna (2010) is a documentary film that portrays the eventful life of the three-time Formula One World Champion Ayrton Senna from the start of his racing career up until his tragic death in 1994; he was just 34 years old.

The film's director, Asif Kapadia, produced the film solely from clips found in the TV archives and this bring us all into the world of Formula One in the late 80s and early 90s. Yet, we also feel the long-term impact of Senna's death with the added commentary from some of his closest colleagues like Ron Dennis, now executive chairman of McClaren.

For those, like myself, who were barely born when Senna was racing, the film seamlessly places us into this racing era. From personal interviews, we get an immediate sense of the tense rivalry between Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost and the clips of race meetings show the constant politics that surround the sport.

What makes the documentary so powerful is that it shows us the enormous risks that Senna and his racing colleagues took when choosing to race. Despite this constant danger, the film portrays Senna as a man that raced with no fear, who was prepared to push himself past the limits of safety in order to win. In the first part of the film, the speed at which he drives is impressive. However, as the documentary continues, it is saddening to see Senna go against the advice of his close colleagues as they even ask him to stop racing altogether. His love for Formula One though was true, and this allowed him to race despite the danger that was so apparent.

It is a tragic tale about a man that was an icon of Brazil but also a man of humility. Interviews show an individual that was humorous and amicable, gaining him fans worldwide. Fortunately, his death sparked significant changes in Formula One and there has not been a fatal accident since his death in 1994. In this way, the documentary stands as both a reminder of the great Ayrton Senna as a driver and as a man but also shows us how his death changed the world of Formula One for the better.

Why Live Sports Is a Profitable Business for Bars and Casinos

These are people who are interested in sports psychology. Namely, these would be businesses such as sports bars and casinos. They need people to come in and watch live sporting events, and the more entertaining they can make it for their patrons, the better.

Live sports have been found to be more interesting when there are games that have specific time limits. In other words, sports such as football, basketball, and hockey are going to be more interesting than baseball or some other untimed sport. The time limits in sports help to keep a sense of urgency that is simply not present in an untimed sporting event. That means that the viewer gets more of a rush out of watching the timed event. Odd as it may sound, a viewer of a timed event actually experiences things such as increased heart rate, higher blood pressure, and even sweating in some cases. Though they are not directly involved in the action taking place on screen, they feel as though they are right there in the game.

The physical effects that one feels when they are watching sports can actually encourage them to engage in behaviors that they would likely not engage in if they were in a normal non excited state. These behaviors include eating more than they otherwise would and even gambling more money than they would otherwise when they are in the casino. That is obviously something that these places want to take advantage of to make some more money for themselves.

Another thing that the casinos can take advantage of with live sports is the ability to offer live betting right along with it. Not all casinos have this, but some do in fact allow gamblers to place their bets on events that are just about to unfold during the game. Those bets have to be placed quickly and without as much thought process as one might put into bets that they place on the outcome of the whole game before it even starts. The lack of time to think things through can make gamblers a little more reckless than they otherwise would be. That adds up to more money in the profits of the casino.

There is more research into live sports than there ever has been before. More people are starting to look into this because they want to know what impacts it has on human psychology. We have already turned over some of the effects that it has, and there are likely many more that we do not yet know about. If it turns out that this is in fact the case, then there could be even more opportunities to look at for future research.

Display Cabinets and Shelves for Trophies

Any individual who've collected trophies and other awards over the years are proud of their achievements. May it be an academic or sports trophy, it deserves the right place in your home or office. Shelves and cabinet tops are the usual places to find trophies. But as time passes, many people tend to ignore them and leave them unclean for a long time.

A better way to keep your trophies clean and organized is by putting them in cabinets with glass doors, or on top of shelves particularly made for these items. If you have collected quite a number of awards, it is best to keep them tidy and organized in a place where you and your guests can see them. Why? Because they can be great conversation pieces or part of the design of your study room or any area in your home.

One particular piece that you can purchase or have a carpenter customize is a display cabinet. This is like any other cabinet with glass doors and sides, but they can be made especially for your trophies. Taking the size and height into consideration, you can order these cabinets online or offline. You may also talk to your local carpenter and have the work done right there in your premise or in his workshop.

You can also choose the design, style, and color of your cabinet or shelf. There's always a couple of catalogues lying around the carpenter's workshop or you can print out the design you'll find online. It is also best to keep the design similar and complementary to your home's interior. If you are going to place this piece in your study room, make sure that it will not overcrowd the space. Have the carpenter measure the dimensions of the room first before deciding on the final size and style of the cabinet or shelf.

Another good tip is to refurbish old cabinets or shelves. You may purchase them from flea markets or garage sales, or from a specialty store. You can save more by doing this since it will only take you a few hundred bucks or less in paint, glass [if needed], and labor. If you are quite artistic, this can be a good DIY project to start with.

Don't just leave your trophies on top of almost any shelf or inside a cabinet, because no one will ever know that you're good at a lot of things. Being proud of your talents and skills can be best presented through a collection of these items and more. But without proper presentation and organization, they're just vessels for dust and cobwebs as time passes.

Integrated Boxing and Karate Coursework Ideas

In this article, I indicate a schedule and coursework for running an Integrated Boxing and Karate Seminar. This type of seminar would work very well on a Saturday, or split up over a weekend where sessions could be drilled could be extended or repeated as necessary. Also, ideas may be borrowed from the outlines below and drilled regularly in martial arts classes if they were of benefit to your own students.

First are morning sessions - from 10 A.M. until 12 Noon

Introductory session - warmups for 1 hour (10 to 11)

A comparison will be made of the types of physical conditioning that are generally used in karate and boxing. It will then be shown how combining both types of training can create a full body workout, as well as prepare students physically for any combat situation.

All of the material to be covered:

"Integrated" Warmups - stretching, ropes, jogging, and progressive calisthenics / body weight training for strength.

Water break and discussion - 15 minutes

Basic techniques section - 1 hour (from approx. 11. to noon)

The overlap between the basic principles and mechanics of karate and boxing, as well as how the two styles complement each other, will be covered. We will then have students participate in basic drills from both styles, then show how the drills can work together. Students will find that the principles behind the footwork, pivoting, blocking, parrying, dodging, and punching methods for both styles have more similarities than differences - much like in comparing different styles of karate.

All of the material to be covered:

Basic punches, boxing defenses, and footwork, then a comparison to basic karate punches and lines of motion in other arm techniques (such as comparing boxing hooks to karate hooks and elbows). How the footwork and defenses of both styles overlap will be drilled.

Break - 1 hour for rest and "power snack" if needed (approx. noon to 1 P.M.)

Afternoon sessions - 1pm until 3 / 3:30 depending

Ringcraft - 45 minutes to an hour

We will cover how the two styles approach ring craft, sparring drills, and applications, and ranges. Basics, combinations, setting up traps, and perfecting technique are the major focuses.

Water break and discussion - 15 minutes

Sparring and drills - 1 hour

In this hour, we put theory into practice and continuously run padwork, bagwork, drills, and sparring matches under both boxing and karate rules.

The author is the chief instructor at Johnston Karate, based in Lake City, South Carolina.

Framing and Mounting Medals on Your Walls

Medals are symbols of achievement - may it be in sports, academics, and all sorts of competitions. For a very competitive individual, it isn't impossible to see quite a number of this item in his or her abode. The problem with some individuals is they fail to organize and flaunt their 'achievements' properly.

You might come across a friend who just lets his medals hang on whatever is accessible or available in his home - a coat hanger or available hooks and tacks where other framed items are mounted. It is such a waste to see medals lying around or hanged carelessly. It may be years ago when you've won that quiz bee competition or champed the badminton tournament in your area, but the medals you've garnered are timeless testaments to your exceptional skills and talents.

Many people have found that framing medals before mounting them on their walls is a good idea. Though not a very unique way, but putting these items in frames does not only protect them, but also keeps them organized. You don't have to worry much about the cost because you can purchase ready-made frames from both offline and online frame stores. The choices will depend on how many medals you have and how you wish to organize them in your home.

One good idea is to organize medals by the year. Some may prefer organizing by the type of competition they've joined and won. Another tip is to keep your frames uniform in terms of style and size. You may also go for styles that will complement the room's overall look and feel. So, if you will hang the framed medals in your study area, make sure that the designs will jive and not clash.

You may also find in homes larger frames that hold medals for each of the children in the family. This is also a great way to organize according to every person's achievement through the years. The medals are usually arranged per year or competition.

Laminated frames are also one of the most common methods of framing medals with diplomas. You may apply this method collectively instead of just laminating one item in one frame. As mentioned, it will depend on how you would like to organize.

Keeping your medals neatly organized in your home shouldn't be a difficult task. It can be a fun way to remember your past achievements during your school years. And it is also a cool and subtle way to flaunt your awards and enhance your walls at the same time.

The Impact of Title IX on High School Recruiting

As noted in the national sports news this week, controversy still surrounds the Title IX legislation that we have been living under for over 20 years. In terms of sports and high school recruiting, college recruiting and equality for men and women, this issue may never be resolved. In fact, it seems the more we do to insure equality, the more un-equal things become. The reality is that our good intentions are not going unpunished.

Originally, the Title IX legislation made no mention of sports at all. It was written to insure that equal opportunity was given to men and women when applying for jobs at institutions that received federal funding. It is included as a portion of the Education Amendments of 1972, and has been hacked at ever since to serve specific needs of specific groups and individuals.

Since the inception of Title IX, high schools and colleges have actually cut sports programs for men to create balance between men's and women's programs. In some dramatic cases, bleachers, scoreboards and playing fields have been destroyed to create this 'equality'. The mandate was that if you don't have the same facilities for the girls, you can't have it for the boys. So, down they came. How does that help?

I'm sure in many areas there are more young men involved in physical sports than women. And, many schools are limited in what they offer based on student interest. What has been popular in the past for is what is continued in the future. Introducing new sports is sometimes difficult. I know that for many schools adding soccer was a big deal a few years ago. And, it didn't need to be mandated by the government. And this has impacted high school recruiting.

Years ago when I worked in a middle school, boys and girls had separate physical education classes. This is how it was when I was in school too. I thought nothing of it. The boys played football, basketball, baseball, and ran track and wrestled. The girls played softball, basketball, field hockey, ran track, volleyball and did gymnastics. The boys progressed on to high school with a well rounded knowledge to help them succeed in the sports there. The girls, the same. A few years later came Title IX and the classes had to combine the girl and the boys. Are you kidding? None of these kids wanted to have a PE class with the opposite sex. And, when they discovered that the curriculum would be completely changed they were furious. Boys could no longer have a wrestling program because in a co-ed class girls and boys could not be grappling all over each other on the mats. There was no more football; soccer was added. Baseball was dropped and everyone played softball. Gymnastics was dropped. Basketball, track, volleyball and field hockey stayed. And, they added ping pong, badminton, archery, and other fillers like 'skills and drills' (push up, sit up, and pull up games).

In a nutshell; Title IX may seem like a solution to a problem but in fact has created a new, larger problem for all of us. Students are missing out on specific activities they need and schools are being hit with the cost of compliance with no return on their investment. Expensive equipment sits gathering dust and filler activities that are boring to our kids are in place of real physically challenging activities.

In reality, our elementary and middle school students must work harder for high school recruiting opportunities because of Title IX. Again, no good deed goes unpunished. Sometimes we need to leave well enough alone.

Keep Them Entertained This Summer - Outdoor Games For Kids

Studies have shown that the recent trend of indoor entertainment can have a negative impact on children's health. The plethora of new children-orientated television channels, the multitude of gaming consoles available on the market and the emphasis on technology directly correlate with overall poor health in the nation's next generation. Childhood obesity is at an all-time high and more children are developing diabetes as a result of lack of exercise and frequent snacking. The rise of diagnosed ADHD has also been linked to the frantic over-stimulation of media-based entertainment. This is why outdoor games for kids are rising in popularity among health-savvy families.

Outdoor games for kids are often far cheaper than their indoor equivalents. There can be hours of fun derived from a single soccer ball, which often costs under ten dollars for a cheap plastic model. Compare this to the cost of a PlayStation or Xbox game, which can cost nearly sixty dollars and are quickly discarded after one or two play-throughs. A soccer ball can provide entertainment for one child by himself, as he practices his dribbling skills or kicks the ball against a wall. Likewise, it can provide bonding and socialization opportunities as the child participates in a game of soccer with other kids from the neighborhood. The benefits from this are immediate and obvious: the child learns teamwork, co-operation with others, gets some exercise and has fun while doing it. What exercise is the child who sits indoors playing a soccer simulation game on a console getting, apart from occasionally moving his fingers?

There are also many cheap toys (under ten dollars) that can be used in outdoor play. A skipping rope can be used alone, which is an excellent form of exercise; or three people can take part in a complex skipping game with one child hopping up and down in the middle. A hula hoop is great for exercising belly muscles, and a favorite summer pastime for kids is seeing who can keep the hula-hoop in the air for longest while music plays. Another cheap outdoors toy is a skittles set - the game can be easily set up on a sidewalk or a quiet cul-de-sac, and several kids from the neighborhood can get involved in a skittles championship league. All of the above games are cheap and durable, and when taken care of properly will last your child for years.

Slightly more expensive, but equally as fun, are the more sports-orientated games. A baseball ball and mitt can provide hours of entertainment, as well as bonding time between family members. An additional bonus is that this hobby can become a lifetime one. The child could join a local Little League team, and continue the sport throughout high school and college. The child ends up having so much fun bowling and catching that they don't realize that they are actually getting some exercise! Street hockey, with a junior-sized stick, is also a great way of incorporating actual sport into kid's play.

The health benefits of outdoors play are undeniable, and the additional socialization that accompanies it is invaluable for a child's development. The number of obese and unfit children is on the rise in America, and it's time to buck the trend.

Remote Control Cars There Is One For Everyone

No matter which style of RC car you choose; toy or hobby, large or small, electric or nitro-gas, you can't go wrong. They are all a blast to play with, so let's go over some of the basic differences to help make the choice easier.

Let's start with the difference of type or grade. There are two grades of RC car, toy-grade and hobby-grade. A toy grade RC car is great for beginners just getting into the hobby; you can hone your driving skills and decide which style of RC car is right for you without spending a ton of money. Hobby grade RC cars will cost a little more but the benefits are more durability and higher quality.

Next, how much time are you willing to invest before you get your car up and running, and how custom do you want it to be? RTR (ready to run) cars are perfect for beginners. They are ready to go right out of the box and some simple customizations can be done inexpensively when you are ready for a different look or more power. If you want a completely customizable car it is best to go with a RC car kit that you can build yourself. It may take a little more time, but your car will be as unique as you are.

Remote control cars come in all shapes and sizes, or scales as it is more commonly referred to. The scale refers to the proportion by which the RC car is built to the full-size vehicle which it is modeled after. The most common RC scales are 1:10, 1:16, 1:24, 1:36, and 1:52 scale (super tiny).

Finally let's talk about the engine. There are two common types of engines, nitro-gas powered and electric. There are pros and cons to both. An electric motor is not as expensive or as maintenance intensive as a nitro powered motor, and you don't need to buy gas for it. The down side is that although they are fast, they are not as fast as nitro powered engines and they need extra down time to recharge a battery. If you are looking for a supper fast RC car with longer run times Nitro cars are the way to go. Just be sure you have extra fuel on hand for pit stops and you'll be off and running again in no time.

Thanks for reading.
Live loud and play fast.

The History Of Chess Sets And Boards

The majority of historians believe that chess is the oldest game of skill in existence. There are written records of chess being played all the way back in the 6th century in what is now modern Afghanistan and India. This was the Persian Empire, and so the oldest chess sets and boards were Persian-made pieces used in the game they termed "chaturanga." Unfortunately, no known pieces from the first few centuries of Persian chess sets remain in existence. Maybe someday an archeological dig will be fortunate enough to discover a few pieces, or maybe even a whole set, of this early version of chess.

The Persian Empire was enormous, and it was famous for being one of the most prolific trading empires. There was no corner of the empire that these traders did not reach, and they brought chess with them. The early version of chess quickly spread throughout the empire. These early chess pieces were made from many different materials throughout the Persian Empire, depending on the means of their owners.

Very cheap chess sets and boards were made from bone in the early days of the game. More extravagant pieces were often carved from hardwoods such as ebony and rosewood. The very finest early chess sets were carved from ivory, which was favored by craftsman for its ease of carving and ability to polish to a fine shine.

Luckily, examples of some of these early ivory chessmen still survive today. Pieces were discovered in modern-day Uzbekistan, and they are in very good condition. Seven pieces were discovered in all, two pawns, an elephant, a horse, a vizier, a chariot and a king.

The next-oldest chess set in the world was found in India, and it has been radiocarbon dated to around 900 AD. These pieces were the older style chessmen that were found in the Persian Empire's version of chess.

More modern, European chess sets that players are familiar with today date from not too long after this. The earliest example of these European chess pieces were preserved in a monastery in Ager, Spain. These Ager pieces date from 1021. They are made from rock crystal that has not survived the ravages of time very well, and only a few of the pieces are in good enough condition to determine their use. The legend told by the monks that preserved the pieces over the years is that the set was originally carved for Charlemagne.

The oldest chess pieces that can be combined together to form a full set date back to the 12th century. These pieces, known as the Lewis Pieces, contain 96 individual pieces that came from four separate sets. They were made in Norway out of ivory formed from walrus tusk and whale teeth. They are in phenomenal condition, and look as if they would be fine to use in a game today if they weren't under glass in the British Museum.

European-style chess sets all had the same pieces, but there were many different competing designs for specific pieces. This led to conflicts in matches, when players would refuse to play each other due to the unrecognizability of certain pieces. A standard design for competition chess sets, called the Staunton, was constructed in 1849 by Nathaniel Cook. It is still the design used in chess competitions around the world today.

Warm Up and Cool Down Exercises for Netball

Netball is a rigorous game. It demands so much of your body, so in order to perform your best and reduce the risk of injury, you need to do warm up exercises prior to the game and cool down exercises after the game.

It is great that coaches ensure their teams to warm up prior to a game however too often, coaches and teams will forget to perform cool down activities after a game. Whether you have just won the grand final, or you have to rush off to the next sports game or there is a game right after yours that requires you to get off the court quickly - simply step aside and do some sketches for 10-15 minutes immediately after the game. This will benefit your body long term.

You need to help your body to slow down and recover. If you do choose to take the time to simply wind down, you are helping to prevent the build up of lactic acid, which causes muscle stiffness and soreness, and blood pooling.

Netball warm up exercises

In preparation for a netball game, warm up exercises including dynamic stretches focusing on fingers, wrists, shoulders, neck, back, hips, knees and ankles are recommended. These encourage blood to flow directly to the areas of your body that need energy so you perform at your optimum whilst playing.

Dynamic stretches have continual movement as you are not holding a stretch for a long period of time. You take the muscle to the end of its range then straight back again. By targeting muscles and replicating actions you would use in a game, this will help to reduce muscle tension by increasing flexibility and freedom of movement. A netball warm up session only needs to last between 10-15 minutes. It is to begin with a low intensity activity, for example 3-5 minutes of jogging/side steps and stride outs on court followed by 7-10 minutes of stretching exercises, for example passing and catching.

What is the benefit of warm up exercises?

Warm up exercises are a way of adequately preparing your body for the activity. Blood carries oxygen around the body and by increasing your blood circulation this means that oxygen goes to the muscle cells allowing them to work more effectively. Oxygen is fuel for your cells. The faster your blood circulates, the faster blood can get to your muscles, giving you more energy in your muscles, to use those muscles. As a result, this makes you less susceptible to injury particular when playing in the cold.

Netball cool down exercises

In contrast to a warm up exercises, static stretches are more appropriate for exercise during a netball cool down session. Static exercises - also known as isometrics - exert muscles at high intensities without movement of your joints. Static stretches need to be held for approximately 20 or 30 seconds for it to be effective. The benefits of static stretching include:

* increased flexibility and freedom of movement

* reduced muscle tension

* reduced muscle waste products within the body

* reduced muscle soreness and stiffness

Netball cool down exercises enable you to compete again at the similar level fitness within a short period of time. They are very effective for things like one day round robin competitions.

What is the benefit of cool down exercises?

If you suddenly finish playing and do not have a netball cool down session, then you are susceptible to the build up of lactic acid, causing muscle pain in the days that proceed and blood pooling (which is the gathering of blood in different parts of the body rather than it being redistributed back to the heart).

Given the intensity of netball, we need to take responsibility of our bodies - look after yourselves so you can maintain your fitness and flexibility for years to come and continue to live an active and healthy lifestyle. By performing cool down exercises, you work on gradually slowing down the level of activity, returning your body to your pre game condition (returning cells to their relaxed state/length).

Why are static stretches appropriate for a cool down and not warm up?

Specialists like Dr Kath Gaffney, recommend that you need to be warmed up first before attempting them because theoretical evidence suggests that static stretching before a match can lead to tears and there is also some evidence that your body's function may be reduced after static stretching, for example your vertical jump may be reduced.

Key aspects to remember about static stretching as part of a cool down session

* Select the major muscle groups you use the most and stretch them through their full range of movement

* Hold each stretch for 3 deep breathes (20-30 seconds). Do not bounce.

* Repeat each stretch 2-3 times

* Stretch gently and slowly

* Stretch to the point of tension but never pain

* Select the major muscle groups used in your sport and stretch them through their full range of movement

Be sure to do both warm up and cool down exercises the next time you play. Think of your health and work on maintaining your active lifestyle! It only takes 10-15 minutes but the benefits are long term for you and your netball career.

Jen D Turner writes for uScore Netball, a website providing netball news, resources, tips and tricks for all lovers of netball including players, umpires, parents and coaches who also have a fun iPhone app you can use to score netball games from the sideline.

Three Safety Tips to Remember While Using Powerisers

Do you want to be the most favourite aunt for your nephew or niece? Or the coolest dad in town? Get a smart poweriser and you can be sure that the kids are going to be totally thrilled about your gift. In fact, not only kids but adults also are going to be excited if they are gifted with powerisers. It is the best jumping sports as well as an excellent exercise equipment. The pure thrill of leaping up to incredible heights and impressing the onlookers is something nobody can resist. Poweriser is the best option for all these.

As much as powerisers are fun and exciting, they are quite risky too, if you try them without adequate practice and knowledge. In fact, if you are planning to gift them to someone close to you, it is important that you know the tips for safety as well. Here are a few facts for you to remember while purchasing or using powerisers.

1. Remember to get the safety accessories as well along with the powerisers, the most important of these being the helmet. As you know, powerisers allow you to jump great heights and therefore it is always better to wear the helmets. This is to avoid your head hitting somewhere on the roof as well as hitting on the floor in case you fall. Similarly, it would be a good idea to get safety pads for your wrists, elbows and knees for the same reason. And just as in the case of learning to ride a bicycle, falls are inevitable while learning the jumping techniques on powerisers. Hence, it is always better to protect your body while using them.

2. Do not hesitate to get help from experts while practicing on powerisers. You could learn it on your own, of course, but that comes at the cost of several falls and bruises as it is an extreme sport item. Hence, have someone support you while practicing it. The best option would be to start learning it at some training institute where you would get the assistance of poweriser experts. Besides, these institutes would provide you with the ideal settings for you to learn without any obstacles. It is many times safer than practicing at your home where the ceiling might not be high enough or your family members might not be free to be by your side always.

3. This brings us to our next important safety tip, that of finding an ideal spot to practice the jumping. For using powerisers, you need to find a place that is free of all hindrances and obstacles, where you can move around without worrying about your head hitting the roof or stumbling across pillars or trees on the path. Also, it has to be a place where you could concentrate on your moves and balance yourself. A park full of people or the narrow alleyway is never the place for powerisers, for your attention could easily slip in such places. Customize Your Stock RC Car on a Budget

There are no second chances at first impressions. In the RC world an aesthetic customization can dramatically enhance someone's first impression of your car. You can have the satisfaction of personally changing your car into a one of a kind show stopper without spending a fortune by changing out the body, or outer shell of the car.

You need a few things to get started on. First of course you need your stock car. Then you will need a new, clear Lexan shell. Purchase a body style specifically for your vehicles particular style for a proper fit. When choosing paint you must only use the kind specifically designed for use with clear Lexan bodies, the typical acrylic or enamel paints will not stick. You can use as many colors as your imagination allows. New wheels will also help to enhance the look of your car. If you didn't keep the original hex wrench provided with your stock car to remove your old wheels, you can use an appropriately sized socket and screwdriver attachment. You will also need an electric drill and an assortment of drill bits, a Sharpie marker, a hobby knife, and medium grit sandpaper.

Now it's time to get to work. First you need to remove the original body from the cars chassis. Once that is done you can place the new, clear body over the chassis, be sure to align the body evenly between the bumpers and wheels. Once the body is properly aligned mark the positions of the body posts and antenna on the body with the Sharpie. Take the body off of the chassis, and use the drill with the appropriate size drill bit to create the holes on the spots you had marked. Then put the body back on to the chassis and position the Sharpie on the wheel so that the tip touches the body, rotate the wheel to outline the wheel well on the body. Take the body back off the chassis and use your hobby knife to cut out the wheel well openings. Smooth the jagged edges with the sand paper.

To protect the windows of your new body apply painters tape to the inside. After you have everything taped off, thoroughly mix the paint and paint the inside of the body. While the body paint is drying replace the old wheels for the new ones after transferring the tires. Once the freshly painted body is thoroughly dried you can place it back on the chassis and your new and improved RC car is ready for action.

See Who's Using Kinesiology Tape And Why It's So Effective

Bettering yourself and enhancing your physical performance are key essentials when developing yourself as an athlete. Self improvement and muscle progression are all part of strengthening your system, so that it can perform at its best possible rate. However, sometimes we all encounter injuries, or we have weak spots on our bodies that we'd like to improve. The best way you can do this, is by using some sort of sporting tape. Sports tape is essential to any sportsman or woman, as it supplies support for many reasons. It allows you to perform for a longer time period, it allows you to strengthen injured areas, and it also allows you to play harder. These are necessities when it comes to sports, whether you are a professional athlete or you play for fun, it's so important that you take care of yourself and your body, otherwise you could do yourself some serious damage.

For professional athletes who are looking to take part in the 2012 Olympics, or other important events, things like sports tape is vital to have in the gym bag, as you never know when an area of your body may start to weaken or feel strained. You must at all times carry with you the necessary safety equipment when training, otherwise you are putting your body and system at a high risk. It will show how serious you are as an athlete if you take the precautions to look after yourself, people should take pride in their work and tools, and as an athlete, your body is your tool, so you must keep it in good working order. In order to achieve the highest possible performance your body is capable of, you should wear the sporting tape, as it will allow you to reach your full potential. There is also a psychological side to the sports tape, as when you wear it, you feel enhanced, and it can make you reach out for that extra potential, enabling you to achieve better results. Remember, half of sports is psychological, everything must be done to ensure you are in the right mindset for the games.

There is one type of sports tape that is becoming very popular, it's called Kinesiology Tape, and even some of the worlds most reputable athletes are using it. Some big names like David Beckham and Gareth Bale are using the Kinesiology Tape as they have had such great results from it. They say it differs from the usual muscle supports, the way it carries itself and performs, it is as professional as the athletes that are using it. The Kinesiology Tape is applied in a more complex manner, but this allows it to really get in and treat the affected and weak areas of your body. It's made to mimic the bodies skin, moving with it, so that you can hardly feel it as you perform. It has a huge effect on your performance, as it allows you to move quicker, harder and for a longer time frame than usual. Kinesiology Tape should be compulsory for any serious athlete.

Tips for Flying RC Airplanes

We have all seen the YouTube videos of the Ace flyers, making dramatic swoops, loops, and spins with near perfect precision, but the fact of the matter is that no one starts out as an ace flyer. It takes years of practice to do those stunts. That is why I would recommend starting out with a good simulator program for your PC. There are many on the market today, so do some research and find one that works with the type of A/C and flying you are looking at doing. Also get into your local RC flying community. Start showing up and asking questions of some of the more seasoned flyers, most will be only too glad to share some of their ability on the subject. And when it's time for your first flight, your new buddies will be there to help you out.

Always do a preflight check before takeoff. First, turn on the transmitter, then the airplane. Do a basic hand test of the plane to make sure everything is functioning correctly, then do a range check, collapse the antenna on the transmitter, walk 50-100 feet away and check that your equipment is responding properly. Determine wind direction and speed by throwing a light material (grass clippings work well) into the air.

When you are ready for takeoff face your A/C into the wind. If you're launching you're A/C by hand, give it full power and launch it with a straight and level toss into the air and quickly grab the controls. If this is still new to you, have a friend launch your airplane for you. If you are taking off from the ground slowly advance the power and wait for it to gain enough speed for takeoff

Once you're in the air, keep the throttle at full power until the plane achieves sufficient altitude, allow yourself some room to recover from mistakes, and then reduce the throttle to half power. Practice flying in an oval pattern, turning in the same direction for a while. After you have feel comfortable with one direction try flying the opposite direction. When the oval gets too easy, mix it up and try a figure eight. Remember to keep the A/C as level as possible; raising the nose too much can make it stall.

When you are ready to land your airplane face it back into the wind, slowly reduce the throttle and glide it in, when you are about five feet off the ground cut the throttle completely. Raise the nose of the A/C at the last second, for a perfect three point landing.

Well that's the basics. Thanks for reading

How To Choose A New Pub Or Bar To Visit With Friends

1) Look around online for places that are in your area.

Doing research online is one of the best ways to find great pubs that are around you. It's very likely that you walk or drive by some great spots that you have never even considered visiting! Once you are online, read reviews for places that are nearby. If you are able to find a place that is within walking distance it will be a lot easier to get around without having to figure out transportation. By finding out what other people have to say you can avoid wasting your time and money in a place that won't turn out being that great.

2) Go check out the bars on your own before going with friends.

Stop by one of the places that you saw online to see what it's like. You can see what drinks they have, if there are good prices and if there is a lot of space as well. By seeing the bars in person you can get an idea of which spot looks like a place that your friends would like. You don't have to spend a lot of time doing this, just get a feel for what the bar is like and if it's going to be a fun place to hang out.

3) Ask for special events that are going on.

If you are thinking about going for a special event, inquire ahead of time. Most bars will have specials on their drinks and discounts on foods as well. If there is a special event, you could also need a wristband if there are a lot of people to be expected. Make sure to get all information about different places so you can compare and figure out which is going to be best. No matter why you are going out with your friends, research will ensure everything goes well! You could end up finding a great place to watch sports or a place to go for a huge celebration. There are a lot of different places out there that are perfect for different things.

Try out all the options that you are interested in so you can get a feel for them. Although doing the research may take a bit of work, it will be worth it! Your friends will thank you for all the hard work it took to find a great place for everyone to enjoy. Although the people might be more important than the place, it certainly helps if you're at a fun spot. There are a lot of options so get out there and explore what your city has to offer! You could end up meeting a lot of new people.

At The Exact Moment of Demise With Your Sport Is An Opportunity to Turn Into a Moment Of Success

What is a moment? A moment is a space in time that has no beginning or end, just a deep-seeded opportunity to powerfully affect your future in a positive or negative way. Have you ever had a moment in your life that was dramatic or traumatic that has affected your life or sport? We never seem to forget these moments; in addition, they have affected your future in a positive or negative way. These powerful emotional moments may be affecting you right now by stopping what you really want to do because of the negative habits or a belief system of thoughts that have been installed with your past. Whatever the case, your exact moments of demise throughout your life or sport are missed opportunities to change the future with your sport or life. The great news is; it isn't too late to change or affect the outcome in the future with your sport or life. You do have the power to change and travel down the path you choose.

A Little History:

Thoughts packed with emotion affect the subconscious; therefore, impact your reality rather quickly. Your subconscious brain doesn't know what is real or imagined or impossible to possible. It is a doer of thoughts, habits, beliefs and actions. This part of the brain is where you embrace your perceptions, habits, attitudes, and beliefs. Conscious (mind) willpower has no permanent power over your existing beliefs and habits. The subconscious will win every time. You will need to reprogram the old habits and beliefs and add new beliefs and habits to create change and to reach your victory goals. Willpower again, isn't enough. The good news is you can develop an elite mindset to reach your athletic victory goals and have a happy and healthy life also. Once you have placed the new habits and beliefs and goals properly into the subconscious mind, your victory goals are in actual fact on a collision course with success. I will dwell into the power of the subconscious with another article, but the same concept applies when you hit a powerful moment of demise, loss or wall with your sport. You can imprint very quickly into the subconscious when you are upset.

This is what I am Talking About:

That "EXACT" moment when you are at your weakest point with your sport is a pivotal opportunity to change your negative reaction to success. We seem to be overwhelmed by negative emotions and think this is the way it will be forever. This powerful emotion usually comes after losing or failing with your sport. The more important the game the stronger the emotion - or you may be bombing out reaching your goals. Whatever the case, you are very emotional and can't seem to stop thinking about how you won't win or reach your goal. If these thoughts continue, you will continue to manifest this feeling all over again unless you change your thoughts.

Remember what I said, thoughts that are packed with emotion, affect the subconscious and your reality rather quickly, which affect your habits and beliefs. These habits and beliefs will be carried over to practice and then your game. The good news, you have the power to change these "EXACT" moments of demise into a moment of success right then and there, which will powerfully affect your confidence and success with your sport in the future. There is only one instrument with your body that you have total control over if you choose. It is your thoughts, whether you think it or say it. Does this sound too simple? In fact it is if you really want to change. Your circumstances don't dictate your outcome overall, but the choices you make in the circumstances.

How to apply this "EXACT" moment of demise into success:

This is the exciting part! All it takes to turn your downfall into a victory is turn your loss into a win in your imagination by using an affirmative affirmation.

Let's use losing for example:

First you need to feel your loss after your competition. This is natural and healthy, but you don't want to stay with these negative emotions for more then 10 minutes. The sooner you can turn this loss into the exact opposite, which is a win or success while you are mad, crying or really emotional the better. That's it, it is this simple; however, the only challenging thing that will get in your way is your confidence to turn this loss into a positive in this moment. Takes a strong character to do this, but with practice, this will become easier.

You may think, I will never win or get any better. What is the use, this is stupid. You are right, you won't with this thinking, but I do guarantee you will improve and have a much greater chance at succeeding in the future by turning your loss into a success after this annoying, but real emotional loss.

Start today and turn your "EXACT" moment of demise into an "EXACT" moment of success. Your mind, body and soul will reward you for it.

How to Throw Darts: Technique, Grip, Stance and Throw

The following article explains the basic grip, stance and throwing techniques used in the game of darts. There are also tips on discovering what works best for you and how to develop your own style.

Basics of the Grip

Aim and Direct: The chief objective of your grip should be to keep the end of the dart pointing up in each throwing stage.

Solid and Relaxed: Your grip should be stable, firm and should not put tension on the muscles of your fingers. When your fingers become white or you have difficulty releasing the dart due to excess muscle tension it is an indication that your grip is excessively tense. Keep in mind that Darts is a not a game of force, but rather touch. To keep your touch, grasp the dart just tight enough so it will not slide and you can maintain control when speeding up for the throw. The most common error is gripping the dart too firmly rather than too loosely.

Use at Least Three Fingers. Using more fingers will provide more regulation and control of the dart when gathering speed, but it makes the release more difficult as you will have to coordinate more fingers together. Finger coordination is an important aspect of release in your grip.

Shape of Dart Barrel. Not all types of grips will be suitable or functional on different barrel types. Longer barrels require the use of more fingers, while shorter barrels may require fewer fingers. Not only do you need to discover the right grip for you, but you need to discover the barrel that's right for you as well.

Say No to a Fist. The fingers that are not included in your grip should stay comfortably spread apart from the fingers that are included. For example, if you are using four fingers when holding the dart and your smallest finger joins the other four, it will cause strain on the muscles of the other four fingers and will result in a poor release.

Stance and Throw

"Right Foot Forward" Stance. To better understand the stance, examine the position of a good player while they are aiming. Players set their eye, the dart and their target in a line. When a player makes a throw, he must try to maintain the movement of his arm in a plane of two dimensions. This decreases error by eliminating sideways movement of the arm.

Distribution of Your Weight. Your weight should rest chiefly on your forward foot while your rear foot holds adequate weight to thoroughly balance your posture. Keep in mind that, regardless of which weight distribution you use, your posture should be very firm and unshakable. The forward foot should constantly remain on the ground or floor.

Leaning. The more you lean your body forward, the closer you are to the board. Conversely, the farther you lean the more physically demanding and unbalanced your throw will become. If you bend forward excessively, it will result in back strains in the long run. Practice and try to find your own best position for throwing.

Balance. Lifting your leg when throwing is discouraged. Always keep your feet on the floor.

Torso. Your posture must ensure that your body is kept still during a throw.

Dart is a game of skill that requires constant practice on your part. You have to discover your own individual grip, stance and style of throw. Put it in your mind not to merely imitate the style of other dart players. You must discover your own style by yourself.

Try out the grips, stances and throwing styles of different individuals for the purpose of comparing and finding out which aspects are appropriate for you. Trying out various styles will also help you learn the technical connections between grip, stance and throw and enhance your skill. However, you should still find your own style, the one wherein you feel most comfortable and which results in improved playing. Achieve this through constant practice and keen observation of other accomplished or professional dart players. Look into their style of play and if you can use it with ease and comfort, then incorporate it into your own style.
