How To Construct Full Body Workouts In Addition To Your Sport Specific Training

Regardless of what sport you happen to play, performing some full body workouts along with your sport specific training is a great way to improve your skills and make sure that you stay injury free for the long haul.

Having good muscular development is important for improving speed, power, and agility, all of which are great to have for just about any sport.

Understanding how to go about putting together full body workouts will be important to success, so let's take a closer look into this so that you know just what you need to be doing.

Focus On Compound Movements

The very first thing that you should be making sure you're doing is placing most of the focus on compound movements. These are the exercises that are going to work more than one muscle group at once, thus generating superior strength and conditioning in the body.

Classic compound movements include squats, bench press, deadlifts, shoulder press, and lunges. Perform one major compound lift for each muscle group every workout.

You can add a few isolation exercises to these if you wish such as bicep curls, tricep extensions, lateral raises, and so on, but keep them to a minimum. They won't produce as fast of results as the compound ones will, so shouldn't make up a large component of your workouts.

Lift In The Right Rep Range

Next, when it comes to performing your exercises, it's important that you are lifting in the right rep range. Aim for 6-8 reps for compound movements as this will allow you to generate as much power and strength as possible. Some athletes may choose to go into the 8-12 rep range with compound movements, but just keep in mind that this will then become a more endurance focused workout if you do this.

On any isolation exercises you do complete in the session, you should aim for around 10-15 reps per set. As you will naturally be lifting less weight with these movements, you don't need to be taking the rep range quite so low.

Use The Right Frequency

Finally, the last thing to remember is to make sure that you use the perfect workout frequency. This means hitting each muscle group at least twice per week with your full body workouts. Working at this frequency will ensure that you make clear strength gains and that you are going to keep yourself from overtraining.

Make sure that you have at least one day off between sessions, if not two.

So keep these quick tips in mind as you go about generating full body workouts to compliment your training program and help you maintain a higher overall level of fitness.

Be a Sport - A Round Up of the UK's Best Sporting Venues

No one can deny that the 80,000-seater Olympic Stadium and the award-winning Velodrome are impressive, but while the spotlight shines on London we take a look at the best arenas that the rest of the UK has to offer. Away from the likes of Wimbledon and Wembley we guarantee you'll still find plenty of sporting inspiration.

Bridging the gap

With a sporting history as long as it is impressive, Nottingham boasts a wealth of venues to rival the Olympic Park. In addition to Trent Bridge, which regularly welcomes a 15,000-strong crowd to watch international test cricket and former Cricket County Champions Nottinghamshire, the National Water Sports Centre is also located nearby at Holme Pierrepont. Here you'll find a 2km regatta lake and a 700m white water course, as well as an array of water sports, from sailing to kayaking.

A steely determination

If you are a football fanatic taking a short trip across the Pennines to Sheffield will certainly be worthwhile too. As well as encountering another fierce local rivalry between Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United, you will also be visiting the home of the world's oldest major football ground, which is still hosting professional games today, (United's Bramall Lane) as well as the oldest football ground itself - Sandygate Road, which is home to Hallam F.C.

Yorkshire terriers

In addition to visiting the sailing, climbing and real snow skiing centres, as well as the football and rugby stadia, Leeds is also a great place to enjoy a flutter on the gee-gees at Wetherby Racecourse. The only National Hunt course in Yorkshire, it is steeped in history and is one of the UK's leading jumping tracks. The city really is one of the best cities for sport in the UK and anyone visiting this West Yorkshire gem is sure to have a great time here.

Sent to Coventry

As one of the six chosen venues to be hosting the London 2012 Olympic Football tournament, it is perhaps no surprise that the City of Coventry Stadium is another of the UK's impressive out-of-London venues too.

As well as being the home of Championship football side Coventry City, it has previously hosted international under-21 football matches, the Heineken Cup semi-finals and the Women's FA Cup Final. Its impressive design has also helped it to win a number of awards - and be chosen as the only London 2012 Olympics football venue in the Midlands.

Steve Alexander has been writing about the best places to visit in the UK. Click here for deals on hotels in Nottingham. For more information on accommodation in Sheffield or for great savings on in Coventry, go to Hotels4u.

The Evolution of Leadership in Professional Sport

What is Leadership? It is spoken about by a lot of people today. But before we delve into what it means today, lets us trace the origins of its current thinking and how it evolved in professional sport. Having done that, we also need to see where leadership is headed in professional sport.

In the good old days leadership was spelt as "COACH". There were no leadership teams or player groups or senior representative groups or unity councils. The coach was the boss, leader and decider. The head coach took all the decisions and took responsibility for them. All leadership in professional sporting began and ended there. The coach was the revered "guru" who could not be questioned.

Then leadership evolved into the concept of 'Captaincy' and nominating a 'Captain'. Team leadership then began to be shared between Captain and Coach - a kind of 'joint responsibility'. It was not too long before the demands on leadership started increasing to include media management, public experiences and 'sponsor servicing'. The aura of the team translated into the aura and persona of the captain. Now with the position of the captain attaining a halo, we began to see the emergence of Vice Captains and even Co-captains as the limelight was required to be shared to give some importance to other good players through shared leadership. The context of 'grooming the next leader' also developed.

Over time, the philosophy of leadership in professional sporting teams evolved into the present popular model of "Leadership Teams". You had the Captain, Vice Captain, Coach and Manager. The Manager handled the burden of administrative work. The leadership team played an important role in professional sport as it provided the players more opportunities to be engaged with preparation, performance, and to have some first hand inputs into standards, values and practices of the team.

Today, we face an altogether new leadership challenge in professional sport - Coaching by Collaboration. It is a time when everyone associated with the team - players, coaches, staff and management - has to take full responsibility for every aspect in their domain. So what do we call this kind of leadership - leading without leading?

It is an era where each player has to learn to lead from the front. They have to train, prepare and compete to their full potential by accepting full responsibility and accountability for their own standards, behavior and performance, both on and off the field. In the past players could be professional as far as their sporting event was concerned. But elsewhere, they had to depend on others to set and enforce professionalism in associated areas. A player who had some weakness could rely on another to cover up for him; but no longer. It is now an era of individualized peak performance. There can be no weak links in any professional sporting team. It is time for everyone involved in the team to ensure that everything they do: on-field training, off-field training (e.g. gym), social situations, recovery, nutrition, time management, values, sponsor commitments, public appearances and media management is as professional as their actual playing. Thus, with each player working at own peak professional performance, the whole team performs to its peak performance potential.

Embrace the collective collaborative coaching - "leading without leading model". It is innovative and successful. Take the lead and change the future of professional sports.

At The Exact Moment of Demise With Your Sport Is An Opportunity to Turn Into a Moment Of Success

What is a moment? A moment is a space in time that has no beginning or end, just a deep-seeded opportunity to powerfully affect your future in a positive or negative way. Have you ever had a moment in your life that was dramatic or traumatic that has affected your life or sport? We never seem to forget these moments; in addition, they have affected your future in a positive or negative way. These powerful emotional moments may be affecting you right now by stopping what you really want to do because of the negative habits or a belief system of thoughts that have been installed with your past. Whatever the case, your exact moments of demise throughout your life or sport are missed opportunities to change the future with your sport or life. The great news is; it isn't too late to change or affect the outcome in the future with your sport or life. You do have the power to change and travel down the path you choose.

A Little History:

Thoughts packed with emotion affect the subconscious; therefore, impact your reality rather quickly. Your subconscious brain doesn't know what is real or imagined or impossible to possible. It is a doer of thoughts, habits, beliefs and actions. This part of the brain is where you embrace your perceptions, habits, attitudes, and beliefs. Conscious (mind) willpower has no permanent power over your existing beliefs and habits. The subconscious will win every time. You will need to reprogram the old habits and beliefs and add new beliefs and habits to create change and to reach your victory goals. Willpower again, isn't enough. The good news is you can develop an elite mindset to reach your athletic victory goals and have a happy and healthy life also. Once you have placed the new habits and beliefs and goals properly into the subconscious mind, your victory goals are in actual fact on a collision course with success. I will dwell into the power of the subconscious with another article, but the same concept applies when you hit a powerful moment of demise, loss or wall with your sport. You can imprint very quickly into the subconscious when you are upset.

This is what I am Talking About:

That "EXACT" moment when you are at your weakest point with your sport is a pivotal opportunity to change your negative reaction to success. We seem to be overwhelmed by negative emotions and think this is the way it will be forever. This powerful emotion usually comes after losing or failing with your sport. The more important the game the stronger the emotion - or you may be bombing out reaching your goals. Whatever the case, you are very emotional and can't seem to stop thinking about how you won't win or reach your goal. If these thoughts continue, you will continue to manifest this feeling all over again unless you change your thoughts.

Remember what I said, thoughts that are packed with emotion, affect the subconscious and your reality rather quickly, which affect your habits and beliefs. These habits and beliefs will be carried over to practice and then your game. The good news, you have the power to change these "EXACT" moments of demise into a moment of success right then and there, which will powerfully affect your confidence and success with your sport in the future. There is only one instrument with your body that you have total control over if you choose. It is your thoughts, whether you think it or say it. Does this sound too simple? In fact it is if you really want to change. Your circumstances don't dictate your outcome overall, but the choices you make in the circumstances.

How to apply this "EXACT" moment of demise into success:

This is the exciting part! All it takes to turn your downfall into a victory is turn your loss into a win in your imagination by using an affirmative affirmation.

Let's use losing for example:

First you need to feel your loss after your competition. This is natural and healthy, but you don't want to stay with these negative emotions for more then 10 minutes. The sooner you can turn this loss into the exact opposite, which is a win or success while you are mad, crying or really emotional the better. That's it, it is this simple; however, the only challenging thing that will get in your way is your confidence to turn this loss into a positive in this moment. Takes a strong character to do this, but with practice, this will become easier.

You may think, I will never win or get any better. What is the use, this is stupid. You are right, you won't with this thinking, but I do guarantee you will improve and have a much greater chance at succeeding in the future by turning your loss into a success after this annoying, but real emotional loss.

Start today and turn your "EXACT" moment of demise into an "EXACT" moment of success. Your mind, body and soul will reward you for it.

How to Give Yourself the Best Chance to Win With Your Sport Every Time

Attitude is Everything: It isn't what you do Physically, but how you think Mentally

I am going to show you how to absolutely give you the best chance to win with your sport - and life. All you need to bring to the table is your imagination.

What I mean by Attitude is that you have three choices with what and how you think. You can be negative, not care; which is worse than negative, or think positive towards every loss, tie or win. This attitude also applies with your goals or sport puzzles, as I like to say.

Thinking of winning or reaching your goal is like building a stunning puzzle you choose to build. When you build a puzzle, what is the first thing you do? You go down to the store to find one that appeals to your senses. You may be an outdoors person so you will get a nature looking puzzle or you may like sports, business, airplanes or even animal puzzles. Whatever the case, you will find the photo you want to build, where you want to build it; more importantly, you will know it will take patience to build your mind-blowing puzzle one piece at a time. Well, this analogy applies with every goal you want to reach with your sport and life.

The First Step is Crucial for Success:

What is the first step to being triumphant towards the end results with your small, medium, large or ultimate victory goal? This amazing step is actually - your real life imaginary sport puzzle/s. An exciting and enjoyable process because what ever you can imagine you will and can achieve. Just like building any puzzle of course, you need to know what the "picture" looks like. By knowing what your end result (picture) looks like will help you determine the course to laying out the pieces to put together your sport goal/s or sport puzzle, as I like to say.

Do you know the most exciting part of having your sport puzzle/s in place? By consistent action, and faith towards your sport puzzle and plan, you will begin the process to manifest your every desire with your sport. I do emphasize faith in the process because no journey to excellence is a smooth ride. You have to trust the process once it is started. There will be great times and challenging times, but by keeping the faith and accepting everything that comes your way is all part of the process concerning your vision, you will not only make the ride smoother, but also give yourself the best chance to win or reach your goals.

The Second Step that is Crucial for Success:

Define a rich description of your victory goals or sport puzzle (picture) as already accomplished. This is just one example: I just won and Olympic gold medal or getting a personal best time or getting in the shape you want to be in - what ever the case; what you see, hear, smell and feel after reaching your imaginary goals, is critical for your goals to become a reality.

Start with the most important goal you want to work on first. Then put in jam-packed colorful detail in writing- that means what you see, hear, smell, and feel, both internally and externally. Once you've got a written description of this image, you will need to commit an agreed amount of time to imagine this scene every day for 30 days like it has already happen. The more often you perform the mental exercise, the faster your desire will come to you. This is just how manifesting what you can imagine works.

So, you will need to answer these all important questions: You will want to write down what you see, hear, feel, and smell with what you have created in your mind (picture puzzle) with your rich description in the real world and picture in your mind. When you have written your description down, you will need to organize a time to read it out loud to yourself once or twice a day until you remember it. You can tweak it if need be until you are satisfied with it. The KEY here is writing it down as if you already feel you have this desire. It is like writing out a premonition you just envisioned. With practicing your description, you will be able to create this feeling at will.

The Third Step that is Crucial for Success:

This next process is absolutely necessary! By doing this exercise will actually increase your desire and belief system, in addition to manifesting your Victory Goals you desire to go after.

1) Schedule a time and imagine what you wrote down every day for 30 days. This is absolutely critical in creating what you envisioned.

2) Set aside at least one session per day, two is better, 3 is like missile fuel! You will create a belief and desire like no other. This only takes 2-10 minutes.

3) Practice the same time each day since this creates a habit, which makes it easier to follow through on a regular basis.

4) Find an accountability partner in the form of a Sport Performance/Life Coach, friend or partner.

Conclusion:

Ultimately, the choice is yours what your sports puzzle looks like and how much effort and time you want to put into making it come true. The absolute critical part for this to work is after you have created a clear sport puzzle (image) and rich description what it would feel like after you have accomplished what you envisioned is to be consistent with your mental exercises each and every day for 30 days. By just missing one day with what you are going to practice will mean you will need to start all over again until the 30 days is complete. The next step is to develop victory steps (plan of action) to get you there.

Benefits Coming From Sponsorship in Sport

Whenever you watch a sports game like basketball, football or soccer, you would see their uniforms filled with logos or names of companies that have sponsored the team. You will also see tons of advertisements on the court which just goes to show that these are sponsorships for the game. If you are watching the sport on TV, you would notice that there are also many commercial breaks during halftime and game breaks. This shows how many companies are aiming for sponsorship in sport. Why not? There are so many benefits that a company can get when they sponsor a team or sport especially in big leagues. Here are some of the benefits that can be obtained from sponsorship in sport.

First of all, you can be able to build brand awareness or recognition for the business. If the sports team that you are sponsoring is doing well, then your company name will always be mentioned making it a household name among families. People will also see more of your logo and company name all over the team. This is good as people will always remember your business and will be the top choice whenever they need to have the product related to what you are offering. People love sports and you will have tons of people remembering your company name when you get into this kind of action.

You can also be able to achieve business networks quickly and easily. Since your company name or logo is being seen commonly over the team, you can easily advertise and market your products and create networks that will expand your scope of customers. This will also turn into having more clients for your business. Once a consumer always recalls the name of your company, you will have better chances of being patronized.

Since sponsoring a sports team is considered a good deed among many, people will see your company as one that cares for the community. This will build trust among the clients and will choose your company over other competitors. People love supporting people or groups with good deeds and charitable works. If you sponsor for a team, then people will find you good and will most likely help you with your products and services.

This is a good marketing strategy for many companies especially those that can really afford sponsoring a sports team. This is why many companies would even create their own teams just to get sales coming in. While many businesses would turn to the usual advertising and marketing schemes, those who have the funds can just sponsor a sport and have their names all over the country or even the world. This is a wise move to make for any business owner.

To get into sponsorship, one may inquire at any sports league. Or some teams would even ask for your support. This is the right time to bring in your sponsorship for the team and have your business name become popular in the public.

Bartercard will give the benefits of getting into sponsorship in sport. To get to learn sponsorship in sport of Bartercard Company, one can visit their website @ http://www.bartercard.com.au/
